How To Use an LED Face Mask Fitness & Sports

It’s time to get real with your face.

And let’s be honest: masks are fun. You can throw them on when you’re feeling lazy or when you need to let go of stress and just be.

But most of the time, we don’t really know what those random masks are doing for us. (Beyond what the package claims, anyway.)

There is one type of mask though, that WE KNOW benefit our skin.

    LED FACE MASKS

These light-based devices are designed to work with your body’s natural functions to target specific issues or concerns, while also helping you relax and de-stress. Plus, they’re completely hands-free to keep you in all your multitasking glory.

LED face masks are scientifically proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes, prevent and heal acne, as well as reduce redness on your cheeks. And SO MUCH MORE. Let’s get into how to properly use one.

How To Use an LED Face Mask

Sometimes life gets in the way of your skincare routine. (Unless you’re using your HOT MINUTE PLANNER to track all your skincare treatments, that is.)

But that doesn’t mean you need to let your skin game slide.

You can get a full facial treatment at home with an LED face mask, which uses red or blue light therapy to treat acne and other skin issues. In as little as 10 minutes per day, you can clear up blemishes, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and even treat sun damage.

But if you’ve never used one before and don’t know where to start, we’ve got you covered.

    ♡ Exfoliate the day before.

Exfoliating AND using an LED face mask back to back could potentially cause a little irritation.

So, exfoliate your face the day before to remove dead skin cells and allow new ones to emerge.

You can exfoliate your skin using a scrub or gentle face brush, or even your own DIY scrub with coffee grounds. Just make sure you’re gentle. We also love shaving our face to exfoliate and get rid of peach fuzz.

♡ Wash your face with a gentle cleanser.

When you use an LED face mask, your face should be completely free of dirt, debris, serums, moisturizers, and more.

This is why it’s important to cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser right before using the mask.

This will help remove any dirt or impurities that may be present on your skin as well as any leftover products.

Pat your face dry, wait a few minutes until it’s completely and totally dry, then move on to the next step.

♡ Apply the LED face mask.

Before you apply the mask, make sure it’s clean. You can quickly clean your mask with rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth.

Now, it’s time to apply the mask. Make sure that the device is turned on and positioned properly on your face so that you are exposed to its full effect.

Leave the LED face mask on for 10-20 minutes, 3-5 times per week. Clean in-between every single use.

    ♡ Aftercare

IMPORTANT: Avoid direct exposure to sunlight for at least 24 hours after using a mask. Sunlight may cause redness and irritation on your skin if exposed directly after masking.

After you use your LED face mask, there are a few things you can do to take care of your skin.

First and foremost, you’re going to want to apply an oil or serum like the ICE QUEEN Face Oil. This will soothe, hydrate, and replenish the skin from the treatment it just had.

Then, to soothe your face even more, give yourself a face and neck massage with the HOT MESS Ice Roller. Not only is it super relaxing, but it gives you an instant face lift.

We also recommend that you use a good moisturizer and apply it all over your face. In addition to some sort of eye cream or serum to target fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth area. Lauryn loves Dr. Dennis Gross Oil-free Marine Moisture Cushion.

After you’ve done this, APPLY SUNSCREEN to protect against UV exposure and to ensure the long-term benefits of the mask treatment.

Finally, it is important to DRINK PLENTY OF WATER before and after using an LED face mask. This will help improve blood circulation, which will allow the red and blue light to penetrate deeper into your skin for maximum absorption.

How Do LED Face Masks Work?

LED face masks are a great way to keep your skin looking fresh, healthy, and young.

    But how do they work?

In the simplest terms, it’s a light-emitting diode (LED) attached to a mask that delivers light therapy to your skin.

The lights on each mask are set at different wavelengths, depending on what kind of treatment you want (red and blue light for acne-causing bacteria, green light for anti-aging, and so on). They work by breaking down harmful bacteria in pores that normally cause acne and other skin issues. The lights also help with fine lines and wrinkles by increasing collagen production.

Lights are typically set to a low intensity so they don’t burn or damage skin, but they still deliver enough energy to do their job effectively.

    + Red Light Therapy

Red Light Therapy helps keep your acne at bay by killing bacteria that can cause breakouts. The red light spectrum can help improve your skin tone and texture, and also help with acne and other skin issues. Plus, it’s great for relaxation.

    + Yellow Light Therapy

Yellow light therapy uses the power of yellow light (in contrast with blue light) to help balance your body’s internal clock while improving your moods and making you feel more alert throughout the day.

    + Green Light Therapy

Green Light Therapy penetrates deep into the skin’s surface to stimulate collagen production, which is essential for maintaining a youthful appearance. It also promotes blood circulation and reduces inflammation while simultaneously boosting natural healing processes in the body.

    + Blue Light Therapy

Blue light therapy has been shown to help with a variety of skin issues, including wrinkles, acne, and hyperpigmentation. This color light also works as an anti-inflammatory and can help reduce redness caused by acne and other skin conditions.
