On Sunday, Manchester United Women will make history as they step out at Wembley stadium for their first major final since they reformed in 2018.
The Reds will take on Chelsea on May 14 in the FA Women’s Cup final, with kick-off scheduled for 14.30pm.
United ticked off another win in the league last Sunday, beating Tottenham 3-0 to keep their title hopes alive and will have momentum on their side going into this final.
Hannah Blundell and Jayde Riviere, who made her United debut at the weekend, have been speaking to club media about their feelings heading to Wembley.
“We’ve got the momentum at the moment and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be positive going into that game,” Blundell said.
“I think if we play like we know we can, then we should hopefully come away with a result.”
Meanwhile it has been a whirlwind last few weeks for Riviere who made her debut recently and is now preparing for a trip to Wembley.
“I’m really excited,” she said. “I’ve never been to Wembley but I’ve only heard amazing things about it so it’s definitely something on my bucket list.”
“I’ll be there cheering on the girls and play if I can!”
The final is expected to set a new record for the biggest domestic crowd for women’s football.
Arsenal smashed the previous record just last week when they faced VfL Wolfsburg in the Champions League in front of over 60,000 spectators.
With Wembley now being a sell-out, it looks like that record will be short lived with over 80,000 expected to be there.
