Canadian bodybuilder Chris Bumstead clinched his fifth consecutive Classic Physique Olympia title at the 2023 Olympia. Post-victory, Bumstead underwent a hair transplant, necessitating a month-long break from training. During that period, Bumstead tweaked his diet, reducing his overall calories while maintaining a high protein intake to maintain his muscle tissue.

On Dec. 30, 2023, Bumstead published a video on his YouTube channel wherein he shared what his off-season grocery haul looks like from Sam’s Club. Additionally, he shared insight into how he will gradually adapt his diet for the competitive 2024 bodybuilding season. Check it out below:

    Chris Bumstead’s Off-Season Grocery List

Here is a list of items Bumstead bought on his trip to Sam’s Club:

    • Turkey Breast (for sandwiches)
    • Atlantic Salmon
    • Bison
    • Chicken Breast (boneless, skinless)
    • Beef Tenderloin (USDA Prime)
    • Chopped Kale
    • Clementines
    • Chicken Strips (nuggets)
    • Sweet Potatoes
    • Frozen Vegetable Medley (for stir-fries)
    • Eggs
    • Almond Butter (with no added oils)
    • PopCorners (snack)

A box of oven-roasted turkey breast was the first addition to Bumstead’s grocery cart, followed by a pack of Atlantic salmon for its high healthy fat, protein, and omega-3 content.

Bumstead prefers bison’s flavor compared to ground beef. He stocked up on chicken breast and remarked about eating fried chicken after his 2023 Olympia win.

Beef tenderloin and chopped kale were tossed into the cart. The latter of which is not used for salads but rather as an addition to chicken and rice bowls.

I’ll bring four or five [clementines] to work every day.

Sweet potatoes, a frozen vegetable medley, eggs, and almond butter cap Bumstead’s relatively disciplined off-season food shopping, save for a pack of PopCorners; the snack of choice.
