Chris Buescher thought he won. So too did Kyle Larson. And so too did their respective teams, with each reacting to what was the closest finish in NASCAR Cup Series history.
Upon a review, NASCAR officials determined that Larson had indeed won Sunday’s race at Kansas Speedway. The margin of victory was 0.001 seconds.

“I don’t know, that was wild,” Larson told FS1 as he stood on the frontstretch comprehending a finish decided by mere inches.
Buescher was leading on the final lap with Larson in second place. And as the two raced through Turns 1 and 2, Larson got a better run that allowed him to pull alongside Buescher down the backstretch with the two staying side-by-side through the final corners and all the way to the finish line, banging into each other multiple times.
“I don’t know what to say,” Buescher said. “That sucks to be that close.”
The win was Larson’s second on the season.
Chase Elliott finished third, with Martin Truex Jr. fourth and Denny Hamlin fifth.
