Former Arkansas forward Trevon Brazile officially entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday – the final day players are eligible to do so.
Brazile had previously declared for the NBA draft and indicated he was not planning to return to Fayetteville for the 2024-25 season, so entering the portal is likely just a way for him to keep his options open while he gets feedback from the draft process.
The 6’9 forward began his career at Missouri, averaging 6.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks in 25 games. He transferred to Arkansas but only appeared in nine games as a sophomore before tearing his ACL, which cost him the rest of the season and the start of this past season.
All told in 35 games with the Hogs across two years, Brazile averaged 9.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks while shooting 57% on two pointers and 36.1% from three on 2.8 attempts per game.
Brazile’s incredible length and athleticism, as well as his outside shooting and rim protecting abilities, make him a surefire NBA draft prospect – but significant knee issues will give scouts pause.
Still, in a weak draft class a player with Brazile’s upside should get plenty of NBA attention – and a strong performance at the combine could push him back into the first round conversation.
If he doesn’t get the feedback he wants, plenty of programs will be lining up to bring the dynamic forward onboard for the 2024-25 campaign.
