A teenager and a man have been arrested on suspicion of being involved in an April car-to-car shooting that injured a driver in Rancho Cucamonga, the California Highway Patrol said Wednesday, May 8.
On Tuesday, April 2, at around 4:22 p.m., a shooting occurred in which someone in a car shot at another person in another car on the westbound 210 Freeway, east of Haven Avenue, in Rancho Cucamonga.
An 18-year-old man from Alta Loma, a neighborhood in Rancho Cucamonga, was struck with a gunshot and was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital with major injuries, a CHP statement said.
The victim, who was driving a black Kia Soul, continued to the Campus Avenue off-ramp in Upland after he was shot.
After an investigation, officers arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of being the shooter involved and a 21-year-old man suspected to be the driver of the suspect vehicle, Wednesday’s statement said. Both suspects are Rancho Cucamonga residents.
They were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a firearm, Wednesday’s statement said. Officials did not immediately identify the man who was arrested. Juvenile suspects typically are not publicly identified.
Information about the motive and the updated condition of the victim, if known, was not immediately provided.
