New Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Pope spoke publicly for the first time about his brand new roster with Jeff Goodman on Thursday evening, highlighting how the roster of seven new transfers and three incoming freshmen fits together.
“We’ve been really blessed to put together a roster that I think fits brilliantly what we’re trying to do,” Pope told Goodman. “We kind of backed our way into what I think is a really, really intriguing roster for us, that fits us. I think these guys fit together. I think every single one of these guys has elite-level character.”
Pope got to work immediately after Kentucky hired him to replace John Calipari, who left for Arkansas and brought most of Kentucky’s 2024 recruiting class along with him. Pope did retain one incoming freshman, Travis Perry, and brought BYU commit Collin Chandler with him to Lexington.
