While a majority of movement within the college football transfer portal happened back in December and January, let’s not necessarily forget about the recently ended spring window entirely either.
With players eligible to enter the portal during April, numerous SEC football programs continued to add talent during the spring, which included a few teams landing potential starters at some key positions of need. Also included in this were programs such as Alabama, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M that will be entering the 2024 season with new head coaches that were more active than others as they look to fill out their rosters for this upcoming fall.
Here is a look at the SEC’s five biggest winners from the spring transfer portal window, along with each addition that the respective program made.
5
Vanderbilt Commodores
- Makhilyn Young, Running Back
- Dariyan Wiley, Wide Receiver
- Chase Mitchell, Offensive Line
- Cade McConnell, Offensive Line
- Steven Hubbard, Offensive Line
- Mark Davis Jr., Cornerback
Likely the most active SEC team during the spring window was Vanderbilt, who added nine different transfers across both sides of the ball. Arguably the most notable of that group was Eli Stowers, a tight end who is coming off a breakout 2023 campaign at New Mexico State.
4
Ole Miss Rebels
- Domonique Thomas, Running Back
- Henry Parrish, Running Back
- Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Running Back
- Rashad Amos, Running Back
- Isaiah Hamilton, Cornerback
Ole Miss added four different running backs during the spring window to their top-ranked portal class, headlined by Miami’s Henry Parrish. Parrish has rushed for a combined 1,200+ yards the last two seasons at Miami, and returns to Oxford where he originally began his collegiate career.
3
Auburn Tigers
- KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Wide Receiver
- Ronan Chambers, Offensive Line
- Isaiah Raikes, Defensive Line
- Philip Blidi, Defensive Line
- Keyron Crawford, Edge Rusher
Auburn landed their potential WR1 this fall in Lambert-Smith during the spring window, a player that had 1,721 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns across four seasons at Penn State. The Tigers also addressed the defensive line by adding a trio of players that could all potentially make an impact in 2024.
2
Alabama Crimson Tide
- Kadyn Proctor, Offensive Line
- Geno VanDeMark, Offensive Line
- DaShawn Jones, Cornerback
Alabama addressed their positions of need during the spring window, headlined by bringing back starting left tackle Kadyn Proctor after he transferred to Iowa earlier in the offseason. Another big pickup came on special teams in kicker Graham Nicholson out of Miami (OH), who was the 2023 Lou Groza Award winner.
1
Florida Gators
- Elijhah Badger, Wide Receiver
- Jason Zandamela, Offensive Line
- Cormani McClain, Cornerback
There might not be a bigger winner from the spring transfer window than the Florida Gators, even despite landing only four commitments. Included in that group is Badger, who was a 1,500+ yard receiver at Arizona State, as well as a pair of former top high school recruits at their respective positions in McClain and Zandamela.
