A team that has made some impactful additions through the transfer portal so far this spring, the Miami Hurricanes added yet another name to that lengthy list Tuesday in former Tennessee Volunteers edge rusher Tyler Baron.

Baron comes to Miami off a successful four-year career at Tennessee where he has been an impactful member of the Vols defensive front, amassing 101 tackles, 27 TFL, and 13.5 sacks from 2020-23. The senior edge rusher also had a career-year with the Vols in 2023, posting 28 tackles, 10.5 TFL, and six sacks as one-half of a Tennessee pass rushing unit that was among the best in the SEC.

Baron’s commitment to Miami now brings to a close what has simply been a wild offseason for the Tennessee transfer, one that originally saw him move from the Vols to Ole Miss back in mid-December.

After that, Baron would remain committed to the Rebels for only a month, as he would transfer to Louisville back in mid-January, where he remained prior to entering the portal once again in late-April.

Now a part of Miami’s offseason transfer class, the commitment of Baron only continues what has been an impressive haul for the Hurricanes during the spring, headlined by others such as Oregon State running back Damien Martinez and Houston wide receiver Sam Brown, among others. Will these key portal additions now make big impacts for Miami in 2024?
