The Tennessee Volunteers landed a commitment Friday night from one of the premier players still available in the transfer portal in North Florida guard Chaz Lanier.
A Tennessee native, Lanier has spent the first four seasons of his collegiate career at North Florida, starting 49-of-104 for the Ospreys. During that span, Lanier is a career 8.9 PPG scorer, while also shooting a notable 40.7% from three for his collegiate career.
Lanier however is coming off a massive breakout 2023-24 season at North Florida in which he averaged 19.7 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 1.8 APG across 32 games, 31 of which he started. The guard also led the A-Sun with a 44 3P%, while also shooting 51% from the field and 88% at the free throw line to also earn First Team All-A-Sun honors.
A key addition to Tennessee’s 2024-25 backcourt, Lanier is now the fourth transfer addition for the Volunteers so far this offseason, joining Felix Okpara, Igor Milicic Jr., and Darlinstone Dubar.
