Dan Hurley is back, like he never left. The 51-year-old took the weekend to decide if he would pursue a lucrative offer to leave college basketball and coach the Los Angeles Lakers, ultimately announcing he will return to the UConn Huskies on a quest to win a third straight national championship.
Hurley’s return ensures UConn’s dynamic roster stays together, which includes the return of two year starter Alex Karaban as well as a pair of incoming transfers in Tarris Reed and Aidan Mahaney.
But is this roster at the level capable of doing what has not been done in college hoops since John Wooden and Bill Walton led UCLA to three straight titles in the early 1970’s?
Below is a look at UConn’s group of returners, those who have moved on (including four starters), the incoming transfers, incoming freshmen, and a projected starting lineup and rotation for Hurley’s team as they look to make history in Storrs in 2024-25:

- Hassan Diarra – SG (1 year remaining)
- Samson Johnson – C (1 year remaining)
- Solomon Ball – SG (3 years remaining)
