On Wednesday the first round of the 2024 NBA draft will take place, with the Atlanta Hawks currently holding the first pick. A pair of French stars, Alex Sarr and Zaccharie Risacher, are the current front runners to go No. 1 overall, while dark horse candidates include UConn big man Donovan Clingan and guard Stephon Castle.
UConn is not among the 18 college basketball programs who have already had more than one player selected first overall, and even if Clingan or Castle were to take that honor this year it would be the first in program history.
Unsurprisingly, the Duke Blue Devils lead the charge with five total first overall picks, with Kentucky close behind at three. The other 16 programs have had a pair of first overall picks, and that seems unlikely to change this year unless someone pulls off a stunner and takes Zach Edey.
