In a move that is sending shockwaves throughout the college baseball world, Texas A&M Aggies head coach Jim Schlossnagle is reportedly departing the program to take the same position with the rival Texas Longhorns.
This news comes just a day after Texas A&M’s season came to an end with a Game 3 defeat in the College World Series Finals.
The head coach at Texas A&M since 2022, Schlossnagle has led the Aggies to a combined 135-62 record during that span, as well as two College World Series appearances. Texas A&M also held a 53-15 overall record during the 2024 season, and came within a win of claiming the program’s first-ever national championship.
A veteran coach at the collegiate level, this will be Schlossnagle’s third head coaching position within the state of Texas, as he previously served the same position at TCU from 2004-21. Prior to TCU, Schlossnagle was also the head coach at UNLV from 2002-03.
