The Washington Wizards and Portland Trail Blazers swung a trade before the NBA Draft on Wednesday, as Washington dealt Deni Avdija to Portland in exchange for Malcolm Brogdon, the No. 14 pick in Wednesday’s first round, a 2029 first-round pick and second-round picks in 2028 and 2030, per a league source.
News of the trade was first reported by ESPN.
In the deal that will send Deni Avdija to Portland, the second-round picks the Wizards will receive will be in 2028 and 2030. Washington also will get tonight’s 14th pick and, as reported elsewhere, the second-most favorable of Portland’s 2029 first-round picks, per source.

Avdija, drafted No. 9 in 2020, averaged a career-high 14.7 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 75 games for the Wizards, who finished 15-67 last season.
Brogdon, 31, has one year left on his deal. The 2023 Sixth Man of the Year averaged 15.7 points and 5.5 assists per game in 39 contests with the Trail Blazers, who acquired him last summer in a deal for Jrue Holiday.
Along with the No. 14 pick, Washington also owns the No. 2 and No. 26 picks in Wednesday’s first round.
