Yet another college baseball season has now officially come-and-gone, and once again, the dominance of the SEC over the sport was on full display.
For the fifth-straight season, the national champion was a different SEC program, with both teams that played for the title having come from the conference as well. Four teams from the conference also made it to the College World Series in Omaha, while many others also made a NCAA Tournament appearance.
Looking ahead however, the conference now flips the page to 2025 and a season that is already shaping up to be a memorable one for the SEC altogether. Not only will the conference add two new teams from the Big 12 in Oklahoma and Texas, but a few key storylines are already emerging such as new coaches at three different schools, as well as the SEC chasing its’ sixth consecutive national championship.
So, with that thought in mind, let’s take a look ahead to the 2025 SEC baseball season, and list our way-too-early power rankings, starting with No. 16.
2024 Record: 23-32 (9-21 in SEC)
The Missouri Tigers were among the bottom of the SEC in 2024, finishing with the worst overall record of any team. Missouri will be looking for a bounce-back 2025 in year two of the Kerrick Jackson era.
2024 Record: 27-26 (8-22 in SEC)
The Auburn Tigers simply had a rough year in 2024, finishing only a game above-.500 to miss the SEC Tournament. Auburn will be looking for a bounce-back 2025 behind First Team All-SEC selection Ike Irish.
2024 Record: 27-29 (11-19 in SEC)
The Ole Miss Rebels struggled at times during the 2024 season, which resulted in the program finishing the year two games under-.500. Ole Miss could have some pressure to win going into 2025, but in a conference such as the SEC, it will certainly not be an easy task.
2024 Record: 40-23 (17-13 in SEC)
The Mississippi State Bulldogs will likely enter the 2025 campaign among the middle of the SEC. A team that had two First Team All-SEC selections a year ago, Mississippi State could potentially lose names such as Dakota Jordan and Jurrangelo Cijntje, among others.
2024 Record: 33-24 (13-17 in SEC)
The Alabama Crimson Tide will be entering year two of the Rob Vaughn era likely sitting around the middle of the SEC preseason standings. Even despite likely losing names such as Gage Miller and Ben Hess, among others, the Crimson Tide will not be lacking for talent entering 2025, headlined by First Team All-SEC shortstop Justin Lebron.
2024 Record: 37-25 (13-17 in SEC)
A new era begins for the South Carolina Gamecocks in 2025, as former national championship winning coach Paul Mainieri takes over in Columbia. Mainieri will inherit a team that went 37-25 this past season, and will likely be considered among the middle of the SEC in the preseason.
2024 Record: 38-23 (13-17 in SEC)
You could certainly make an argument that the 2024 season was a down one for Tim Corbin and the Vanderbilt Commodores. The program will now look for a bounce-back 2025, but will likely have to do it without names such as Bryce Cunningham and Carter Holton.
2024 Record: 43-17 (17-13 in SEC)
The Wes Johnson era in Athens began in a big way during the 2024 season, with year two now set to certainly bring a few question marks for the Georgia Bulldogs. Undoubtedly the biggest will be to replace star third baseman Charlie Condon, a top MLB draft pick who received SEC Player of the Year honors in 2024.
2024 Record: 53-15 (19-11 in SEC)
The Texas A&M Aggies had one of their best seasons in recent memory in 2024, going 53-15 to finish as the national runner-up. However, the Aggies now have major questions entering 2025 due to a coaching change, as well as roster movement.
2024 Record: 36-24 (20-10 in Big 12)
Two new era’s are set to begin for the Texas Longhorns in 2025, as not only does the program join the SEC, but Jim Schlossnagle takes over as head coach. Schlossnagle, who comes from Texas A&M, now takes over a Texas program that was among the best in the Big 12 a year ago.
2024 Record: 40-21 (23-7 in Big 12)
The Oklahoma Sooners’ first season as a member of the SEC will come in 2025 fresh off a 2024 campaign in which they won the Big 12 regular season title. Leading the Sooners into this new era in 2025 will be Big 12 Coach of the Year Skip Johnson, who will have a talented roster that could make some noise instantly in the conference next spring.
2024 Record: 36-30 (13-17 in SEC)
Even despite a rough regular season, the Florida Gators still showed in the NCAA Tournament that they are a premier program in college baseball. The Gators will be back in 2025, but will have to do it without the likes of two-way star Jac Caglianone, who is a likely top pick in the 2024 MLB draft.
2024 Record: 43-23 (13-17 in SEC)
No, the program did not go back-to-back as national champions, but the 2024 campaign was still a solid one for the LSU Tigers. Jay Johnson and Co. now turn their attention to 2025 where they will likely have to replace the likes of Tommy White, Luke Holman, and Gage Jump, among others.
2024 Record: 44-16 (20-10 in SEC)
Dave Van Horn and the Arkansas Razorbacks will be among the SEC’s elite once again next year. The Razorbacks will likely lose the likes of SEC Pitcher of the Year Hagen Smith, Peyton Stovall, and Brady Tygart, among others, to the MLB draft, but still have the pieces to contend for a SEC title in 2025.
2024 Record: 46-16 (22-8 in SEC)
The Kentucky Wildcats had one of their top seasons in recent memory this past spring, winning the SEC Co-Regular Season title, as well as making it to Omaha. Kentucky is likely set to lose some prominent names off that team such as Ryan Waldschmidt and Emilien Pitre, among others, but will still return a talented roster led by SEC Coach of the Year Nick Mingione.
2024 Record: 60-13 (22-8 in SEC)
A SEC co-regular season title, a SEC tournament title, and a national championship made the 2024 campaign one to remember for the Tennessee Volunteers. Even despite likely losing multiple key players such as Christian Moore, Billy Amick, Drew Beam, and more, the Vols will still be among the favorites in the SEC next season.
