July 1 is the start of the 2024-25 academic year, which means conference realignment has officially taken place. The Pac-12 is now the Pac-2, with Oregon State and Washington State the remaining duo as they plan to temporarily house their sports in the WCC while competing independently in football for the time being.
The other ten Pac-12 schools were dispersed among the ACC, Big Ten, and Big 12, while the SEC snagged two elite programs from the Big 12 in Texas and Oklahoma as they continue to build the best college football conference possible.
The seismic shift in college athletics will take some getting used to – and it might not be long before more major changes come to fruition with the ACC’s legal issues and recent lawsuits against the NCAA having significant impact on member institutions.
