    Pro Football Hall of Fame 2024 class includes three Big East alumni – fitnessnacks

    The Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2024 was enshrined in Canton on Saturday, celebrating some of the biggest NFL stars over the past few decades.

    From dominant pass rushers, run stuffing linebackers, speed demons on the outside, and the greatest return specialist the sport has ever seen, the 2024 Hall of Fame class is certainly a memorable one.

    The seven Hall of Famers all starred at the collegiate level as well, and few would be surprised to see Texas, Ohio State, and Ole Miss among the programs represented by this group.

    However, three of the seven new Hall of Famers spent time in a conference that – as of 2013 – doesn’t even offer football as a sponsored sport: the basketball-dominant Big East.

    The Big East used to be home to many of the teams now in the ACC, including Syracuse and Miami where three of the newly enshrined football stars played in college.

    Below is a look at each of the seven new HOFers, when and where they played college football, and some statistics and individual accomplishments:

    Dwight Freeney – Defensive End

    Conference: Big East

    Stats: 104 tackles, 34 sacks, 51 tackles for loss, All-American

    Devin Hester – Kick Returner

    Dale Zanine USA TODAY Sports

    School: Miami (2003-2005)

    Conference: Big East (2003) ACC (2004-2005)

    Stats: 41 punt returns, 638 yards, four touchdowns, 40 kick returns, 1,019 yards, two touchdowns

    Andre Johnson – Wide Receiver

    School: Miami (2000-2002)

    Conference: Big East

    Stats: 92 receptions, 1,831 yards, 20 touchdowns

    Randy Gradishar – Linebacker

    Conference: Big Ten

    Accolades: Two Time All-American, 3x All Big Ten, 6th in Heisman voting in 1973

    Steve McMichael – Defensive Tackle

    School: Texas (1976-1979)

    Conference: SWC

    Accolades: All-American (1979)

    Julius Peppers – Defensive End

    Craig Jones /Allsport

    School: North Carolina (1999-2001)

    Conference: ACC

    Stats: 167 tackles, 53 tackles for loss, 30.5 sacks, five interceptions

    Patrick Willis – Linebacker

    Conference: SEC
