Izayia Williams, a four-star linebacker from Tavares high school in Leesburg, Florida, decommitted from his pledge to play for Syracuse on Sunday evening and will reopen his recruitment, according to John Garcia of Rivals.
Williams had been committed to the Orange since April 15, but now says he wants to stay in the state of Florida and will choose between a top three of Miami, Florida, and Florida State.
“I’m enjoying the recruiting process,” Williams told Rivals. “Everything about it. It’s really because I know when it’s time for to go college I’m going to want to stay in Florida.”
Williams is a 6’1, 205 pound outside linebacker who ranks 126th in the 2026 recruiting class according to 247Sports.
Florida State currently boasts the second ranked recruiting class in 2026, while Miami comes in at No. 8 and Florida is close behind at No. 11.
Syracuse falls to No. 28 with Williams’ departure, although plenty of players have yet to make a decision in the 2026 class.
