On Thursday, Kenward posted on X that he had received a bone-marrow transplant using stems cells from an anonymous donor’s bone marrow and that a subsequent biopsy found his leukemia cancer cells were in remission.
“The test results that came back were exactly what we were hoping for,” Kenward said. “The new stem cells inside my blood are performing well and the cancer cells remain in remission.”
Kenward works for Rogers Communications and has been an on-air Canucks host for Sportsnet 650 since 2017. Between 2011 and 2017, he was the broadcast host and reporter for Canucks Sports and Entertainment.
Last December, Kenward revealed that he had been diagnosed with leukemia and had been hospitalized.
Kenward is part of the B.C. Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant Program.
Kenward, 46, also thanked his family, including his partner, Amanda, and son, Jayden, for their love “during many stressful months in and out of hospital.”
