One of the best parts of college football is the constant roster turnover. Players will graduate, leave for the NFL, or even depart via the transfer portal. Because of this, teams and individual players are put in unique situations every season.
When examining quarterback situations for the upcoming 2024 season, Clint Brewster of CBS Sports named 12 teams with the best set of circumstances in the nation. The top-ranked team is the Ohio State Buckeyes, second is the Oregon Ducks.
The third-ranked team, which is the highest out of all SEC programs mentioned, is the LSU Tigers with Garrett Nussmeier.
Brewster acknowledges the team’s top playmakers like Mason Taylor, CJ Daniels and Kyren Lacy. Additionally, Brewster points to the offensive line as a strong point of the Tigers’ offense.
“Most people expect a little bit of a decline in production with Heisman trophy winner Jayden Daniels departing at LSU, but the Tigers still have a strong signal caller in four-year quarterback Garrett Nussmeier taking over after learning with a clipboard for a couple years. LSU has the nation’s most outstanding tackle duo in Will Campbell and Emery Jones up front, plus the return of both guards, including Dellinger. At receiver the Tigers lose two first-rounders but Kyren Lacy is primed for a breakout campaign and there’s transfers CJ Daniels and Zavion Thomas.”
Other SEC programs included in the top 12 were the Ole Miss Rebels, Texas Longhorns, Georgia Bulldogs, Missouri Tigers and Oklahoma Sooners.
