Gus Malzahn and the Central Florida Knights are in their second season as members of the Big 12 conference. UCF went 6-6 last year, the only one of the three newcomers to the conference (alongside Houston, BYU, and Cincinnati) to earn bowl eligibility. The Knights played in the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa against Georgia Tech in the ACC, ultimately losing 30-17 in an ESPN televised game.

Central Florida has been a staple as a competitive team in college football, and a team to never overlook, and that is the case again this season. Central Florida is projected to fit right in the middle of the conference, but have some interesting games on the 2024 slate.

Here is a look at our game by game predictions for the 2024 Central Florida Knights:

    Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

    Prediction: Central Florida 38-10.

A good first game for the Knights. Get the Wildcats to come to Orlando and beat them from start to finish. This should not be much of a challenge against the Division I FCS team out of the America East.

    Maria Lysaker-USA TODAY Sports

    Prediction: Central Florida 45-10

Another good one to get the season started. Coach Malzahn is going to have a chance to get some guys involved early. The stats should be padded pretty good through the first two games of the season.

    Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

    Prediction: TCU 38-28

Just not enough defense for Central Florida in this one. We expect the TCU Horned Frogs to be better on the offensive end than they were a season ago. Never easy to go into Fort Worth and win either. Central Florida falls to 2-1 (0-1) after Game 3.

    James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

    Prediction: Colorado 42-41

Neon Deion comes to town and beats the Central Florida Knights. The fans in Orlando at Mortgage Stadium are going to love this game, but Coach Malzahn is not going to love the result. In a shoot-out, the Buffaloes win this game.

    Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

    Prediction: Florida 31-28

The streak continues. The losing streak. Never easy to go to Gainesville and win a game. Florida wants to be better this season, now we will see if that actually comes to fruition. The Gators grab a win and keep the Knights reeling.

A Cincinnati Bearcats helmet lays on the turf during a spring practice at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

    Cincinnati Bearcats Spring Practice

    Prediction: Central Florida 38-24

The Knights get the offense going and take care of Cincinnati. This is military appreciation game in Orlando, and the offense comes to live. Central Florida needs this one bad, to avoid starting 0-3 in Big 12 play.

    Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

    Prediction: Iowa State 27-24

Unfortunately, the streak does not keep going on the winning side. Iowa State plays a defensive style game here and keeps the Knights from moving the ball too quickly. Iowa State finds a way in late October in Ames.

    Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports

    Prediction: Central Florida 31-20

The Knights get back on track win a win at home. Brigham Young has to travel all the way to Orlando in late October. This does not seem like a game that the young Cougars team can come away with. Take Central Florida to win and move to 4-4.

    Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

    Prediction: Central Florida 31-30

We think this could be the best game of the season for Central Florida. In a thriller, the Knights move to 5-4 with a win at home. This is a game they really need with back to back road games coming up, and a finish against Utah.

    Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

    Prediction: Arizona State 14-13

In a low scoring, ugly football game, the folks from Orlando can not go to Tempe and grab the win. Arizona State is not going to win a ton of games, but this is one they are going to find a way to grabbing. This loss sends UCF to 5-5.

    Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

    Prediction: Central Florida 28-24

It could be cold in Morgantown just before Thanksgiving. A happy Thanksgiving would be for the Knights to win this game, and become bowl eligible. They find a way. The passing attack is strong and Central Florida wins.

    Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports

    Prediction: Utah 38-28

The Utes are projected to be one of the best teams in the league. Central Florida gets to welcome them in the final game of the season. Senior Knight in Orlando. Central Florida plays it close for a while, but the visitors pull it out in what could be a huge win for them.
