It is going to be quite the season in the Big 12 conference in 2024. We are excited about the games on the field, but also excited about the players in the league. The addition of new teams not only brings new fans, but also a bunch of new players.

It makes ranking the players in the conference a little difficult, as they have not played the same strength of schedule, and styles of play are a little different. But, as the season begins, we have put together a list of the top running backs in the Big 12.

Without further ado, here are our Top 10 running backs for the 2024 season out of the Big 12 conference:

    10

Cam Skattebo, Arizona State Sun Devils

    Syndication: Arizona Republic

When looking at the positives of Arizona State from a season ago, the biggest name to stand out is Skattebo. After playing at Sacramento State, he came to Tempe and rushed 164 times for nearly 800 yards and nine scores. The Sun Devils will need him again in 2024, but even moreso.

    9

    Micah Bernard, Utah Utes

NCAA Football: Rose Bowl-Penn State at Utah

Bernard went for 533 yards and four touchdowns as a junior. Last season, he missed due to injury. Being on the conference favorite is always a positive for a running back. Get the ball, move the chains.

    8

    Corey Kiner, Cincinnati Bearcats

    Syndication: The Enquirer

Kiner was the running back of choice for Cincinnati last season, and should be this year as well. He started his college career at LSU, but has settled in with the Bearcats. Last season he rushed 192 times for 1,047 yards and five touchdowns.

    7

    Jahiem White, West Virgina Mountaineers

NCAA Football: Duke’s Mayo Bowl-North Carolina at West Virginia

White will be sharing the football with CJ Donaldson, but he is an electric runner, and if West Virginia needs a big play, he will get the call. Last season, he rushed over 100 times for 842 yards and four touchdowns. He was one of the most promising freshmen in the league last season.

    6

Abu Sama III, Iowa State Cyclones

NCAA Football: Liberty Bowl-Memphis at Iowa State

Sama started just two games last season, but when he got a chance, he took advantage of it. This could be a monster season for the Iowa State back.

    5

    RJ Harvey, Central Florida Knights

NCAA Football: Gasparilla Bowl-Georgia Tech at Central Florida

One of the most dangerous players in the league with the ball in his hands. The Knights also added Peny Boone from Toledo, and have KJ Jefferson under center. It is going to be tough to top his numbers from last season, but the true talent of Harvey is nearly unmatched.

    4

    DJ Giddens, Kansas State Wildcats

NCAA Football: Pop-Tarts Bowl-North Carolina State at Kansas State

When Deuce Vaughn left Kansas State, the Wildcats knew they had a nice replacement. Giddens rushed more than 220 times last season, and finished with more than 1,200 yards. Giddens will share some of the load with Dylan Edwards, but do not expect that to slow him down in 2024.

    3

Tahj Brooks, Texas Tech Red Raiders

    Syndication: Shreveport Times/The Times

Brooks played all 13 games, and started them all as well. He ran the ball nearly 300 times last season. He is going to go down as one of the best of all time at Texas Tech. He has the running back room mostly to himself, and is in line for a monster season.

    2

    Devin Neal, Kansas Jayhawks

    Syndication: The Topeka Capital-Journal

Really close between Neal and Brooks for second on the list. The Kansas running back rushed for more than 1,250 yards last season. His senior season is set to be a big one for the Jayhawks especially with all the offensive pieces returning.

    1

Ollie Gordon II, Oklahoma State Cowboys

NCAA Football: Texas Bowl-Texas A&M at Oklahoma State

Gordon rushed the ball 285 times a season ago. He scored 21 touchdowns. He won tons of awards. He is not just the best running back in the conference, he is also a Heisman Trophy front runner. The Cowboys have dudes on offense.
