Trevon Brazile, a 6’10 forward who spent the past two seasons at Arkansas, removed his name from the 2024 NBA draft process over the weekend. The redshirt junior will now navigate the transfer portal to look for his new home as he prepares to return to college basketball and boost his draft stock.

Brazile began his career at Missouri in 2021-22, averaging 6.6 points and 5.1 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per game. He transferred to Arkansas and looked like a breakout star in nine games – averaging 11.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks while shooting 37.9% from three – but an ACL tear cost him the rest of the season and limited him at the start of last year as well.

Brazile did return for the Hogs and appeared in 26 games in 2023-24, but he never quite looked the same – averaging 8.6 points and shooting 35.3% from three. Another year removed from the surgery could allow Brazile’s elite athleticism and shot-making ability to really shine, and if he finds the right landing spot to showcase his skills it could rocket him up draft boards in 2025.

Here is a look at five schools – including a return to Fayetteville – that make sense for Brazile in the 2024-25 season.

Coach John Calipari has rebuilt Arkansas after losing every single scholarship player following Eric Musselman’s departure to USC. Calipari has added eight new players – six who were either with him at Kentucky last year or who were committed to Kentucky as incoming freshmen – as well as FAU transfer guard Johnell Davis and Tennessee big man Jonas Aidoo.

But getting Brazile back in a Hogs uniform should be a big time priority for Cal, as he not only gives the fans a familiar face but he is a great fit at the power forward spot alongside Aidoo in the frontcourt. Calipari is slowly moving toward a more spaced out, three point style offense, and Brazile’s athleticism, strong outside shooting, and veteran experience will pair well with Aidoo and rising sophomore Zvonimir Ivisic in Fayetteville.

Hubert Davis and North Carolina recently landed big man Ven-Allen Lubin to help replace program legend Armando Bacot, but the Vanderbilt product doesn’t bring the same offensive firepower. With Carolina also losing dynamic wing Harrison Ingram to the NBA draft, a player like Brazile makes a ton of sense.

The 6’10 forward can slide into a starting role next to Lubin and fellow transfer addition Cade Tyson, and with a dynamic returning backcourt of RJ Davis and Elliot Cadeau this program would once again be a favorite to win the ACC and compete for a top seed in the big dance.

Rodney Terry and the Texas Longhorns lost a ton of talent from last year’s team, including the recent departure of forward Dillon Mitchell who committed to Cincinnati in the transfer portal.

Brazile is a logical replacement at power forward, offering floor spacing and offensive punch alongside returnee Kadin Shedrick at center and a plethora of talented guard additions, including Brazile’s Arkansas teammate Tramon Mark and Oregon State point guard Jordan Pope.

Illinois is awaiting a decision from super senior Coleman Hawkins, who as of this writing remains in the NBA draft process. However, Hawkins is also in the transfer portal and while he has not ruled out a return to the Illini the program still has a hole to fill in the frontcourt.

Brazile could really thrive in coach Brad Underwood’s high octane offense while showcasing more outside shooting and versatility which should boost his draft stock for 2025.

    Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

Miami saw star forward Norchad Omier depart the program to play for Scott Drew at Baylor, one of eight players in the portal from Jim Larranaga’s squad.

Brazile would help replace the offensive production lost with Omier’s departure, along with the losses of guards Wooga Poplar, Bensley Joseph, and Kyshawn George.

Alongside Lynn Kidd and returnee Matthew Cleveland, Brazile would help this ‘Canes program climb back to relevancy in the ACC after a disappointing 2023-24 season.
