A person authorities say pointed a gun at officers was shot by Pomona police on Sunday, June 9, and an investigation was launched.
The shooting occurred around 7:45 p.m. along the 600 block of West Holt Avenue, near the intersection of White Avenue, according to Pomona Police Chief Michael Ellis. The person was struck at least once by gunfire after pointing the firearm at officers
The suspect was taken to a hospital and was reported to be stable, police said. Their identity was not immediately released by authorities.
No officers were injured and a firearm was found at the scene, Ellis said.
News video from the scene showed a white pickup truck that had been involved in a collision. Other details on what led up to the shooting were not immediately released.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department planned to assume the investigation, Pomona Police said.
