The UConn Huskies are coming off a second straight national championship, and despite losing four out of five starters – everyone except Alex Karaban – Dan Hurley’s team is primed to once again pace the Big East in 2024-25.

The additions of Aidan Mahaney (St. Mary’s) Tarris Reed (Michigan) and incoming freshman Liam McNeeley give the Huskies a supremely talented roster, although they will face plenty of competition from Big East stalwarts Creighton, St. John’s, and Marquette.

Creighton lost Baylor Scheierman and Trey Alexander, but return Ryan Kalkbrenner, Steven Ashworth, and Mason Miller while adding Pop Isaacs and Jamiya Neal from Texas Tech and Arizona State, respectively.

Rick Pitino and the Red Storm had a tremendous transfer portal offseason, adding guards Kadary Richmond and Deivon Smith from Seton Hall and Utah, respectively, and they’ll look to get back into the big dance after narrowly missing the field of 68 last season.

Marquette had no transfer portal activity, but managed to retain a ton of key talent outside of Tyler Kolek and Oso Ighodaro, who were both picked in the 2024 NBA draft. Can Shaka Smart keep the Golden Eagles afloat?

Below is a look at the power rankings for the Big East well ahead of the 2024-25 college basketball season.
