I’ve watched Kevin Durant’s entire career from up close, and I don’t recall ever seeing him play quite like this. And I don’t take that statement lightly.
He just put together a first half for the Olympic ages, capping it with a fadeaway jumper from the right side at the buzzer that came off of a beautiful call from coach Steve Kerr. Durant has 21 points on eight-of-eight shooting as Team USA lead 58-49.
Meanwhile, the nice gentleman next to me who typically covers other sports in his reporting job is marveling at the basketball brilliance on display.
“You have a pretty good job if you get to watch this all the time,” he said with a smile.
He is right.
