For the last 20 years, college football writer Bruce Feldman has produced his annual freaks list. It’s become a staple of the offseason, with fans, players, coaches, and analysts eagerly awaiting to see which superstar athletes will be chosen each year.
The list has grown from ten to now 101 different football players, some from Group of Five or even Division II schools, although most of the best athletes are from the power conferences.
The Big Ten is well represented on the list, with 24 of the 101 freaks coming from the 18 team conference. Unsurprisingly, Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State each have multiple representatives on the list, along with Minnesota and USC.
Oregon has just one player on the list, while Washington doesn’t have any coming off a national championship appearance last year.
