Head coach Lance Leipold has things cooking in Lawrence, Kansas. The Jayhawks come into the 2024 season with a ton of energy and some high expectations.
Quarterback Jalon Daniels, the redshirt junior, is back behind center, with Cole Ballard backing him up. His receiving core of Lawrence Arnold, Quentin Skinner and Luke Grimm will be one of the best in the Big 12.

The Lions are certainly going to be ready to compete. The St. Charles, Missouri-based team will not be in awe of Arrowhead Stadium, which is where Kansas is playing all their home games in 2024. Jed Stugart is going to have his team ready to play, but in the end, talent wins.

The Jayhawks going on the road is not going to be an easy task. Illinois out of the Big Ten has some pieces to put together a solid 2024 season. The Jayhawks beat the Illini by 11 a season ago at home. Now they go to Champaign. Kansas though has the offensive attack in this game that gets it done. Competitive game, but Jayhawks move to 2-0.
UNLV Running Rebels – September 13

These two teams played in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl a season ago, and the Jayhawks got the offensive party going. The Jayhawks scored 49 points. UNLV is going to have a tough time keeping up with the Kansas offense in this game. Kansas moves to 3-0 with the win in Kansas City.
At West Virginia Mountaineers – September 21

These two teams did not play last season. West Virginia is going to be one of the worst teams in the Big 12. West Virginia comes into the season listed at 18/1 to win the Big 12. The Mountaineers are listed at 6.5 wins. This is not one of them – Kansas moves to 4-0.
TCU Horned Frogs – September 28

TCU is just a season removed from heading to the National Championship game. The Horned Frogs are listed at 7.5 wins this season. They are at +1800 to win the Big 12. They are going to be better offensively this season, but not quite enough. Kansas is 5-0.

Can Lance Leopold have the Jayhawks ready to go on the road to quite a distracting location? Welcome to the Big 12 for the Sun Devils. Outside of Houston, there is no bigger underdog in the Big 12 than the Sun Devils. Kansas is a mature bunch and wins this game on the road.

When will Coach Prime get his defense back to a competitive place? Not this game. The Kansas offense has a field day with the Buffaloes on defense. The fans in Kansas City love the pace of this game. Jayhawks win by two touchdowns.
At Baylor Bears – November 30

The Baylor Bears are not projected to be at the top of the league. But Kansas is, and they should be. This is going to be a tough game to go to Waco and win. But a win in this game would all but lock up a chance in the Big 12 title game. With just one loss, the Jayhawks could also be in the picture for the College Football playoff. Kansas finds a way over the Bears.
