New women’s pro soccer team Vancouver Rise FC and Christine Sinclair are suggesting some sort of role for the longtime Canadian international star, going off social media feeds earlier this week.

What is it? Could she be playing? Could she be coaching? Could she be in an ambassador role?
Burnaby native Sincialr, 41, retired from international play last year, with a glorious sendoff at B.C. Place. She signed a one-year deal in January to play in the American National Women’s Soccer League with the Portland Thorns, the team she’s been with since their inception in 2013.
Portland’s 8-6-3 in the regular season so far, and Sinclair has seen action in 16 of their 17 games. She has two goals.
The NWSL season comes to a close with playoffs in November. Rise FC is part of the six-team Super Northern League that’s slated to start in April 2025.
Sinclair was on CTV Your Morning earlier this week with Lindsey Deluce. Sinclair was there talking up her involvement in SportsShare, an online sports training hub. Deluce still led off with some Sinclair playing future questions.

“Hopefully the season goes to the end of November and then is that it?” Sinclair was asked.
Sinclair replied: “We’ll see. I’m not breaking any news here today.”
Deluce suggested the door was possibly open.
“There’s something in the door,” Sinclair said.
Something like a textbook?
“Maybe like a flyer,” Sinclair quipped.
Rise FC sporting director Stephanie Labbé said at a media launch earlier this week unveiling the team’s name, logo and colours that she hoped to have a coach named and the first players officially signed in the coming few weeks.
Labbé told the crowd that night: “This team is going to be filled with players who have youth World Cup experience, senior World Cup experience, Olympic experience. They’ve played for Canada, they’ve played for other countries, as well at the next generation and those players that are showing they’re ready to take that next step in their careers.”
Vancouver Whitecaps owner Greg Kerfoot also owns Rise FC. There will be some crossover, but Labbé talked this week about how Rise FC would be largely its own separate entity.
