The final two Brits left in the singles draws were in action yesterday.

No. 25 seed Jack Draper got the day started brilliantly as he cruised past Botic van de Zandschulp, the victor of Carlos Alcaraz in the second round, in straight sets (6-3, 6-4, 6-2).

In the evening, Dan Evans — who played the longest match in US Open history in the first round — was competitive against No. 10 seed Alex De Minaur through the first two sets before not winning a game in sets three and four (6-3, 7-6, 6-0, 6-0), owing to an injury.

Defeat at the third round, though, will be considered a big success for Evans who has struggled with injuries this season.
