Continental weightlifting in Asia has flown under the radar for the past year or so, but don’t expect things to be low key at the 2023 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Asian Weightlifting Championships (AWC). This year’s AWC, held in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea from May 5 to 13, will not only feature some exceptional lifting, but also help clear the road for the athletes who have the best shot of making it to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Many of the best weightlifters in the world are expected to put on a show when they take the stage in Jinju. If you aren’t sure how deep the talent runs in the Asian circuit, check this: The vast majority of all current Senior World Records in Men’s weightlifting are held by Asian athletes. All of the Women’s, save one — Romanian Loredana Toma‘s 119-kilogram snatch — are held by women athletes from this region.

Some of of these contenders, including prior Olympic Champions like China’s Shi Zhiyong (2020), haven’t performed on the international stage in quite some time. Others, like five-time Asian Champion Kuo Hsing-Chun, will undoubtedly further cement their legacies in Korea.

Below, you can find the full results of every A-Group session at the 2023 AWC. Note that these results are being updated in real time as the competition progresses and may be incomplete until the event wraps on May 13
