Elite powerlifter, Enahoro Asein, is pushing his deadlift training hard in the aftermath of the 2023 International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) Classic World Championships in Malta. He finished as the runner-up in the 83-kilogram class and broke his own raw deadlift world record along the way, extending it to 370.5 kilograms (817 pounds).
Asein shared a training update on his Instagram page on July 27, 2023, in which he pulled 350 kilograms (772 pounds) raw for a triple. Check it out below:

Asein deadlifts with a sumo stance, which suits his mechanics. He doesn’t share his extended setup routine in this video but has a distinctive style. His knees lock at the top of the lift, and his torso extends a long way back at lockout. He performed his raw triple in a lifting belt.
The first repetition moved quickly; he barely paused before the next rep, raising his head and lifting almost immediately. The second rep moved just as quickly as the first. Again, Asein wasted no time before the next rep, making it look just as easy.
350 kilograms (772 pounds) is a phenomenal weight to handle for reps in the 83-kilogram class. Asein has attempted to pull for the win at the last two IPF World Championships.
At the 2021 World Championships, Asein narrowly missed his 385-kilogram (849-pound) final deadlift attempt that would have secured gold. He settled for the bronze. At the 2022 World Championships, Asein loaded 380.5 kilograms (839 pounds) for his final deadlift attempt, again going for gold, but struggled to move the bar and ultimately ranked as the runner-up overall.
The first time Asein broke the 83-kilogram class IPF world record raw deadlift of 332.5 kilograms (733 pounds) was in 2021. That record now stands at 370.5 kilograms (817 pounds), a dramatic increase of 38 kilograms (84 pounds) in only two years. Asein is expected to lift at the 2023 European Classic Championships in Tartu, Estonia, from December 4-9, 2023.
