West Ham manager David Moyes has claimed that he has no intention of stepping down from his role at the end of the season.

The Scot, for the first time, publicly stated that he is planning for the coming campaign despite reports that the Hammers could make a managerial change in the summer.

West Hamendured a poor start to the Premier League season that saw them fighting for survival in the relegation places.

Improved form has come just in time

However, just one defeat from the last nine games in all competitions has seen them climb to safety and also reach the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League, where they are pitted against Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

Moyes has been on the brink of being fired from his role several times this season, but the recent upturn in form means that he will surely see out the remainder of the campaign.

Several media outlets have claimed that Lille boss Paulo Fonseca and former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez have been identified as possible replacements, but Moyes, on the other hand, is already looking forward to the next season.

The 59-year-old said, I’m planning for next season. I’ve got no intention [of leaving]. I’m getting on with my job, doing everything that I do and obviously, my head’s down and focused on how I’m getting myself more points at the moment. That’s the only thing I can think about.”

Also speaking about other clubs in the bottom half of the table who have made managerial replacements, the former Everton manager said, I think some really, really good managers have left their jobs. I can think of Brendan Rodgers, I can think of Ralph Hassenhuttl, I can think of Jesse Marsch… I can think of many managers who’ve left their jobs.

You have to say sometimes, they are the wrong decisions. And maybe clubs are getting bullied [by outside noise] into making these sorts of decisions.

    Moyes thanks supporters

Moyes also thanked the West Ham owners for their support and supporting him, “You have to say to the owners at West Ham, they have done a great job. They’ve stood by me. We have still got a lot of games to go to prove that they’ve made the right decision. But hopefully, hopefully we can prove that by the end of the season.”
