West Ham manager David Moyes has declared his ambition as well as the club’s to keep hold of Declan Rice as the summer transfer window approaches.

Rice is the subject of heavy interest from a number of English clubs, including Manchester United.

United are known admirers of Rice and could make a move for the West Ham captain this summer, with midfield reinforcements on Erik ten Hag’s agenda.

The Peoples Person covered a report which stated that Arsenal are as it stands clear favourites for Rice.

The Gunners see Rice as a player who aligns with their transfer policy of signing proven talent from within the Premier League.

Rice has turned down multiple contract offers at the London Stadium and an exit now appears to be the most likely outcome.

However, Moyes is still hopeful that the 24-year-old’s decision is not final and that he will stay with the Hammers well beyond this season.

Moyes said, “My hope is that Dec [Declan Rice] thinks West Ham is the best place for him to be.”

“And if somebody doesn’t come up with the right amount of money, it will continue to be the place he is as well.”

“The club have made that pretty plain.”

Rice’s current terms expire in 2024 although West Ham have the option of extending it by an extra year until 2025.

The England international is rumoured to be on around £60,000-a-week. A move to a bigger club than West Ham would almost certainly guarantee the midfielder a huge pay bump.

United need to be alive to the Rice situation and ensure they are not outdone by rivals in the pursuit of the West Ham star.
