While still a long ways away from the 2024-25 college basketball season starting, it’s likely already clear that the Alabama Crimson Tide will be one of the sports’ top teams next year.

Coming off the program’s first-ever Final Four appearance, Alabama is set to return some major pieces of their 2023-24 roster next season, combining that group with a loaded group of newcomers. This includes a few transfer portal additions at some key positions of need, as well as one of the nation’s top recruiting classes for the 2024 cycle.

So, just what will the 2024-25 Alabama Crimson Tide look like? Let’s answer that question today by projecting what Alabama’s starting lineup & depth chart will be in 2024-25, starting with point guard.

    Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

    Starter: Mark Sears

    Bench: Aden Holloway, Labaron Philon

Alabama’s point guard position is their biggest question mark remaining, where starter Mark Sears’ potential return in 2024-25 is at the moment unknown due to the NBA draft. Should he return, the Crimson Tide would have one of college basketball’s top point guard trios alongside newcomers Holloway (Auburn transfer) and Philon (freshman), but should he not return, then that would leave Alabama with an open roster spot to fill.

    Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

    Starter: Latrell Wrightsell Jr.

    Bench: Houston Mallette, Chris Youngblood

Shooting guard will be an experienced position for Alabama next season, as graduate senior Latrell Wrightsell Jr. returns to headline this trio as the projected starter. The other two options come from a pair of transfer additions in Mallette (Pepperdine) and Youngblood (South Florida), both of which shot 40+% from three-point range a year ago.

    Maria Lysaker-USA TODAY Sports

    Starter: Derrion Reid

    Bench: Naas Cunningham

The small forward position is set to be headlined by a pair of incoming true freshmen in Reid and Cunningham. Reid likely projects as the starter here between the two, coming to Tuscaloosa as a five-star prospect.

    Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

    Starter: Grant Nelson

    Bench: Jarin Stevenson, Mouhamed Dioubate

Power forward is also a position that is awaiting a decision, as Stevenson is the lone other Crimson Tide player alongside Mark Sears that is currently in the NBA draft pool. Grant Nelson should start here after opting-to return to Tuscaloosa next year, while Dioubate will also be back for this second season of college basketball.

    Matt Krohn-USA TODAY Sports

    Starter: Clifford Omoruyi

    Bench: Aiden Sherrell

Alabama secured a massive commitment this past Sunday from Omoruyi, a two-time Big 10 All-Defense selection that should step in immediately to start at center for the Crimson Tide. This will allow Sherrell, a five-star incoming freshman, to play a likely prominent bench role in 2024-25.
